Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Berkeley, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Try the Twisted Thai Tea, a strange and wonderful mix of Thai iced tea and Vietnamese iced coffee. I was slightly skeptical, but I'm glad that my curiosity triumphed. My lemongrass beef pho was flavorful and and perfectly executed. Service was fast and friendly. The space is comfortable... don't forget to look up at the beautiful murals on the ceiling. As the kids say "10/10. No notes."

Iβm from the east coast, Philadelphia.. Been eating phΓ³ my entire life and let me tell you.. I have NEVER had a bowl of phΓ³ as good as the one I got here. Hands down the most flavorful bowl Iβve ever ate anywhere. Service was fast, amazing people, and a relaxing cozy environment. Truly an amazing experience all around. Highly recommend this spot to anyone! I got the grilled fish rolls and the sliced beef and beef balls, *extra beef balls* with the spicy stuff paste for that extra kick

The food is top-notch! Served in real fancy ceramic bowls with good quality ingredients. There is also a lovely Buddha statue made out of marble. We spoke to the parent of the owner for about fiveβs minutes and really liked them. I would return in a heartbeat. π

Great portions with excellent homemade taste! Staff is friendly and helpful. The chicken broth soup really hit the spot on a chilly day. Had chicken spring roll and grilled pork Banh Mi. Everything tasted great. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for a quick meal or hangout with friends and family. I would love to come back to try their pho.

I love this place. Best banh mi hands down. Generous fillings, and attention to detail - even the carrots are amazing! They make their own mayo and patΓ© as well. The bread is specially baked for them, and is the perfect soft-on-the-inside/crispy-on-the-outside loaf that a proper banh mi commands. My second love there is the "fried egg rolls wrapped in spring rolls." Pure genius of texture and flavor that is the best of both worlds. Oh, that egg roll crunch combined with crisp cucumber and herby goodness, all dipped in a savory sauce! I could eat those every day. And don't get me started on the pho! I don't get it too often because I end up finishing it all, and it's sleepy time for me about an hour later! I recommend anything with grilled fish. I'm mainly a pescatarian, so this is what I've tried. My omnivore friends profess their love for the other things on the menu. I've told many friends to go there, and now some of them go sometimes two days in a row! There is street parking right outside (metered), and you can find free parking around the corner in the residential streets off Gilman. There are both indoor and outdoor seating, the latter an enclosed patio with transparent
